Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal Requirements

Say Goodbye to That Bad Tattoo

You don’t have to live with a tattoo that no longer works, whether it’s an early piece, a change in direction, or something you’re ready to rework. Our industry-trained technicians use a dual-laser approach to support thoughtful fading and removal, prioritizing skin health, managed discomfort, and proper healing over time.

Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal Care

Pre-Treatment

Before your NIXX laser tattoo removal session, it’s important that your skin is healthy and well cared for. We ask that you avoid excessive sun exposure, and not to use tanning beds and sunless tanning products for six weeks prior to treatment.

On the day of your appointment, please arrive with the area clean and free of makeup, creams, or oils, and remove any jewelry near the treatment site. If needed, shave the area the night before. If you have any cosmetic tattoos or permanent makeup near the area being treated, just let us know — we’re happy to review it with you.

Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal Care

Aftercare

Following your treatment, your Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal technician will clean and wrap the treated area for your trip home and will explain all aftercare instructions. Typically, this involves cleaning the area twice a day with warm water and a mild, unscented soap, then patting dry and applying a thin layer of Aquaphor ointment or an unscented moisturizer.

Blistering and crusting may occur and is not uncommon. Do not rub, scratch, or pick the area. Avoid UV exposure to the area for 6 weeks after treatment, and between sessions. Drink plenty of water immediately following a session.

Nixx Dual Laser Approach

Customized Laser Tattoo Removal

Nixx uses two industry leading laser systems from Cynosure Lutronic:

  • PicoSure – a picosecond laser known for breaking down stubborn inks, especially blues, greens, and previously treated tattoos.
  • Hollywood Spectra – a multiwavelength laser that excels with darker inks, denser tattoos, and specific skin tones.

Having both lasers allows us to choose the right laser for your tattoo, not just the only laser available. Using both PicoSure and Hollywood Spectra allows our technicians to:

  • Match the laser wavelength to your ink colors
  • Adjust treatments for different skin tones
  • Combine or alternate lasers for safer, faster fading
  • Improve results on difficult or previously treated tattoos

Colours

Some colours are more stubborn than others, but most tattoo colors can be significantly faded or removed. Black ink is usually the easiest to treat, while blues, greens, and certain pigments require specialized wavelengths - one of the reasons we use dual‑laser technology!

Skin Types

NIXX uses a dual-laser approach, choosing between PicoSure and Hollywood Spectra to suit different skin types and tattoos. Treatments are adjusted thoughtfully to prioritize skin safety and consistent results.

Laser vs. Cover-Up

Why not both? A couple of treatments of laser tattoo removal may gift your tattooer with an easier job of covering an unwanted tattoo, resulting in a more beautiful piece.

Cosmetic Inks

Cosmetic inks respond differently to laser treatment, which is why permanent makeup removal is generally not recommended. In some cases, laser energy can cause the pigment to darken rather than fade, but we’re always happy to meet with you to discuss your individual needs and options.

Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal FAQs

These are some of the common questions we get asked about Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal. If you don’t see the info you need, you can always call your nearest Adrenaline shop and ask one of our experts.

Does Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as similar to getting a tattoo, often compared to a
quick snap of a rubber band. Treatments are brief, and we use a cooling fan throughout
the session to help minimize discomfort.

How many Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal sessions are required?

That is the $1M question!! Many Vancouver tattoo removal clients ask us how many
sessions they will need. The answer varies based on:
-Tattoo size and location
-Ink colors and density
-Age of the tattoo
-Skin type and circulation
-Whether the tattoo was previously treated
Whatever your goal is, we’ll help you achieve it!
During your free consultation, we assess your tattoo in detail and discuss your end goal,
whether that’s fading for a cover-up or more extensive full removal. While it’s not
possible to predict the exact number of sessions in advance, our experience allows us
to provide a realistic estimate and a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve
your desired result.

How much does Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal cost?

The price of laser Nixx Laser Tattoo Removal in our Vancouver studio is based on the size of the area to be treated and the number of sessions required. Consultations are FREE of cost and your technician will offer packages based on the anticipated number of treatments. Pricing varies depending on the size of the tattoo, the complexity of the ink, and the number of sessions required. Because every tattoo and treatment plan is different, we offer a free consultation to provide accurate pricing and personalized recommendations. Laser tattoo removal is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not typically covered by insurance. In some cases, individuals working in aesthetic-focused industries such as acting or modeling may be eligible for coverage, depending on their policy. We recommend checking directly with your insurance provider.

Will you explain which laser is being used for my treatment?

Yes. During your consultation and throughout your treatments, we’re happy to explain
which laser is being used and why. We believe informed clients make better decisions
and feel more confident throughout the process.

How far apart are laser tattoo removal sessions?

Laser tattoo removal sessions are typically spaced 12 weeks apart. While it may be
tempting to treat more frequently, waiting longer between sessions actually improves
results. Laser treatments break tattoo ink into microscopic particles, but your body – not the laser – does the actual removal. The immune system needs time to gradually flush out these particles through natural processes. Treating too soon does not allow enough clearance time and can slow overall progress.

By waiting 12 weeks:
-Your body clears more ink between sessions
-Each treatment becomes more effective
-Skin has more time to fully heal
-Risk of irritation or side effects is reduced
In many cases, waiting longer between sessions leads to faster overall fading,
fewer total treatments and less cost!

Can you remove all tattoo colors?

Some colours are more stubborn than others, but the short answer is YES!
Most tattoo colors can be significantly faded or removed. Black ink is usually the easiest to treat, while blues, greens, and certain pigments require specialized
wavelengths—one of the reasons we use duallaser technology. Some inks may take
longer than others, but advanced lasers have made removal more effective than ever.

Is laser tattoo removal safe?

When performed by trained professionals using appropriate technology, laser tattoo
removal is considered very safe. At NIXX, all treatments are performed by laser certified technicians with tattoo industry backgrounds, ensuring both technical precision and artistic understanding of tattoo ink.

Can I get laser tattoo removal if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Laser tattoo removal is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Can I get treated if I’m on medications?

Some medications can affect whether laser treatment is appropriate for you. Certain medications, including photosensitizing drugs, some antibiotics, or topical prescriptions, may require extra caution or a test spot before treatment. Other medications may make laser treatment unsafe. Your technician will review your medical history during your consultation and advise you accordingly. It’s important to inform us of any new medications before each treatment so we can ensure your safety.

Why didn’t my tattoo fade with previous laser treatments?

Older laser technologies relied more on heat and longer pulse durations. PicoSure and
Hollywood Spectra use advanced pulse technology that shatters ink more efficiently.
Many tattoos that did not respond well in the past now show improved results with
modern lasers.
