Tattoo Aftercare

Instructions

Leave bandage on for 4 to 6 hours, or artist recommended time. Or, if wearing a second skin (clear adhesive), leave on for 12 hours. Remove bandage and thoroughly wash tattoo in warm water with a mild, unscented soap, such as Simple Cleanse. Never re-bandage the tattoo. Pat tattoo dry using a clean paper towel and allow to air-dry for the remainder of the day. From this point, you will wash the tattoo for no more than 20 seconds a day. On the third or fourth day, or, when the tattoo begins to dry out, you may begin to apply a thin layer of an unscented, water based moisturizer, such as Simple Shield, no more than twice daily. Please remember to only use the lotion if the tattoo is feeling dry, tight or itchy. Too little lotion is better than too much. Do not pick or scratch at the tattoo during healing. Do not swim or soak the tattoo during healing and keep the tattoo out of direct sunlight. After healing is complete (about two to four weeks time), always cover the tattoo with sunblock to keep the tattoo looking crisp. Any deviation from these instructions will void your free touch up. If you have any questions, please contact our studios directly. Happy healing!

FAQ

How much will it cost?

At Adrenaline we charge an average of $160 to $180 per hour on larger pieces, with a minimum of $100.  Smaller work is priced by the piece.  If you are not sure as to how long a certain tattoo will take, you can bring in an image for an artist/staff to provide you a quote.

Are tattoos safe?

Yes. Tattoos are perfectly safe assuming that you are seeing a reputable artist in a shop that is following all health regulations, and assuming you are following the recommended aftercare given to you during the tattoo.

Does it hurt?

A little, but pain is relative as everyone has a different tolerance to pain.  People would not be returning for tattoo after tattoo if it was that bad. The benefits of the beautiful tattoo you get will far outweigh the discomfort getting it.

Can I use a numbing cream?

Any sort of numbing creams are really not recommended as they change the integrity of your skin. Numbing creams usually only last about a half hour before wearing off, which really isn’t long enough to get that much work done anyways.

How long does it take to heal?

In general, tattoos take around two to four weeks to heal, assuming that you are following the recommended aftercare.

What is the best time of year to get a tattoo?

Fresh tattoos cannot be soaked in any body of water or be exposed to sun.  This means no swimming or tanning, so the best time of year to get tattooed is cloudy or cold months.  Even after a tattoo is fully healed, you should always apply sun block to the tattoo whenever exposing it to the sun so the tattoo stays looking crisp longer.

How old do you have to be to get a tattoo?

At Adrenaline, you must be 18 years of age with valid government issued photo ID to get tattooed. In some cases and with limited tattooers, 17 with parental consent and valid ID on both parts, certain tattoos will be considered.
